Nancy Mitford - Muses & The Beau Monde

Nancy Freeman-Mitford CBE, born 28 November 1904, known as Nancy Mitford, was an English novelist, biographer and journalist. The eldest of the Mitford sisters, she was regarded as one of the "Bright Young People" on the London social scene in the years between the world wars. She wrote several novels about upper-class life in England and France, and is considered a sharp and often provocative wit. She also has a reputation as a writer of popular historical biographies.

Since Nancy's reputation is so wide I shall once again share quintessential quotes, picturesque portraits and bountiful books.

"Sun, silence and happiness."

- Nancy Mitford

"I have only read one book in my life, and that is White Fang. It's so frightfully good I've never bothered to read another."

- Nancy Mitford

"Life is sometimes sad and often dull, but there are currents in the cake, and here is one of them."

"If one can't be happy one must be amused."

- Nancy Mitford

"I am sometimes bored by people but never by life."

- Nancy Mitford
