Hubert Robert, born 22 May 1733, was a French painter in the school of Romanticism, noted especially for his landscape paintings and capricci (architectural fantasy), or semi-fictitious picturesque depictions of ruins in Italy and France.
These paintings are so enchanting that while I could ramble on about his life or his painting technique I thought I should simply let the paintings, the romantic ruins and the golden hours, speak for themselves.
