Jay Hyde Barnum, born about 1888, was an American artist, illustrator and author.



He was born in Geneva, Ohio. He attended the Cleveland Art School and the School of the Art Institue of Chicago. He also studied in Woodstock, New York with Bellows, Speicher and Kroll. He made his home in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. He was an author and illustrator of books for children as well as a commercial illustrator. The books he wrote and illustrated are The New Fire Engine, The Little Old Truck, and Motorcycle Dog. He received commissions from magazines including Colliers and Woman's Home Companion as well as a series of illustrations for menswear companies including Hart Schaffer Marx and Knox Hats.
